- Rate carriers you've actually driven for. Tell it like it was.
- Talk about the company, not individual people. No names, unit numbers or plates.
- No fake reviews, no reviewing your own company or a competitor, no rewards for ratings.
- No threats, harassment or hate. Disagree all you want, respectfully.
- Honest negative reviews stay up. Companies can't pay to remove them.
1. Why these rules exist
RateCarriers only works if drivers can trust what they read and feel safe posting it. These guidelines keep reviews honest and useful, keep drivers anonymous, and keep the focus on how companies treat their drivers. They apply to ratings, carrier questions, comments and replies, and handles. They're part of our Terms.
2. What makes a great review
- Firsthand. Rate carriers you drive for now or have driven for, including as a trainee or leased-on owner-operator. Secondhand stories belong in a comment, labeled as what you heard.
- Specific. "Home time was every 3 weeks, not every 2 like the recruiter said" helps more than "home time sucks."
- Fair and current. Tell us roughly when it was. If things changed, update your rating; you can change it any time.
- Your experience, in your words. Saying what happened to you and how it affected you is always fine.
3. Talk about the company, not individual people
Reviews are about carriers, not individuals. To protect everyone, including you:
- Don't name or identify individual people: dispatchers, managers, recruiters, trainers, other drivers or customers. Use their role instead ("my dispatcher," "the terminal manager"). Company owners and executives can be discussed only in their public role, without personal details.
- Don't post identifying details: truck or unit numbers, trailer numbers, license plates, phone numbers, personal addresses, or photos of people.
- Don't share other people's private information, such as medical, family or financial details.
- Protect yourself: leave out details that could identify you (your real name, your exact truck, an unusual incident only you were part of) if you want to stay anonymous.
4. No fake or conflicted reviews
- One account per person and one rating per carrier. No duplicate or borrowed accounts.
- Don't rate a company you own, manage, recruit for or work in the office of, or one of its competitors.
- Don't accept or offer money, bonuses, gifts or favors for a rating or review, or for changing or deleting one.
- No organized campaigns to push a score up or down.
- Don't post on someone else's behalf or make up experiences.
Fake and conflicted ratings are removed and the carrier's score recalculates. Accounts behind them are closed.
5. Opinions and facts
- Opinions and honest descriptions of your experience are welcome, positive or negative.
- Be careful with serious accusations, like crimes, fraud, or safety violations. Describe what you saw and experienced ("I was told to run past my hours twice in March") rather than stating conclusions you can't back up ("they're criminals").
- Don't post anything you know is false.
6. Keep it respectful
- No threats, or encouraging violence or harm against anyone. Threats are removed immediately and may be reported to law enforcement.
- No harassment, bullying, or going after other drivers for their reviews or comments.
- No hate speech or attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or disability.
- No sexual content.
- Strong language about a company is fine; slurs and attacks on people are not.
7. Stay on topic
- No spam, ads, links to sell things, or recruiting posts. (Telling people you're happy at your company and why is fine.)
- No company documents or information you aren't allowed to share, like confidential contracts or internal manuals.
- Don't post content you don't have the rights to, like someone else's photos or articles.
- Handles must follow these rules too. No real names, impersonation, or offensive handles.
8. For carriers and their staff
We welcome carriers that want to learn from drivers. Companies and their staff:
- Can ask us to correct factual carrier details, report posts that break these rules, and respond to drivers where that feature is available.
- Can't rate their own company or competitors, or offer drivers anything for ratings (including only asking happy drivers to review).
- Can't pressure, threaten or punish drivers over what they post, or try to find out who they are. Using threats or intimidation to get reviews removed is against these rules and may also violate federal law.
- Can't pay to change a score or remove an honest review. That isn't for sale.
9. What we won't remove
10. Reporting a problem
Use the Report button on a carrier's page, or email with a link to the post and what's wrong. If you see a threat or a risk to someone's safety, contact local authorities first and then let us know. Reports are confidential; we don't tell the poster who reported them.
11. What happens when rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is, we may remove the content, ask you to edit it, send a warning, temporarily suspend your account, or close it. Fake ratings, threats and attempts to identify drivers can lead to an immediate ban. If you think we got it wrong, email and we'll take another look.
Your privacy matters even when you break the rules: see our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.
